Cranberry Glades and Falls of Hills Creek Hike

Saturday, April 20, 2024 (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Waterfall Hike! Weather kept up away in January, but let’s visit The Falls of Hill Creek in the Monongahela Forest in Pocahontas County AND The Cranberry Glades Interpretive Boardwalk on Saturday, April 20th. We’ll start on the .5 mile boardwalk loop, looking for rare spring flowers. At The Falls, the moderate trail contains three waterfalls, including the second tallest waterfall in West Virginia, and is on the official WV Waterfall Trail. The first waterfall is easily accessible but be aware that there are 382 steps, including railed stairways, to the lower falls. Steps may be slippery in wet conditions. The trail to the lower waterfall is 1.4 miles one-way. For an EASY version of this hike, join us for the boardwalk and the first waterfall (no steps) and return to your car. The Nature Trail at the Cranberry Glades Nature Center is also excellent and easy. Meet at The Hub in Lewisburg at 10:00 a.m. to carpool/caravan to the hike.
