Greenbrier River Trail Hike

Sunday, July 20, 2025 (1:00 PM - 3:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Location: Greenbrier River Trail – Anthony Access Address: Meet at The Hub, 232 Lee St Building C, Lewisburg, WV 24901, Greenbrier County (Use alley north of Lee Street Studios or from GMS Drive near WVSOM for parking lot access) Community Captain: Becky When: Sunday, July 20th – Meet at 9:00 AM to carpool/caravan to the trailhead About This Event: Join Community Captain Becky for a choose-your-own-adventure hike on the nationally recognized Greenbrier River Trail. This hike begins at the Anthony access point and heads north at your own pace for about an hour before turning back. After the river trail portion, hikers have the option to extend their day by crossing the bridge and hiking to one or two beautiful swimming holes along Anthony Creek. The second swimming hole requires a creek crossing, and anyone choosing to swim must sign out of the Active SWV hike before doing so. What to Expect: • A hike-at-your-own-pace adventure on the scenic Greenbrier River Trail • Optional extension to one or two swimming holes after the main hike • Flat, gravel trail for the main portion; more rugged terrain if continuing to the creek How to Prepare: • For the river trail: bring sunscreen, hat, and water • For the creek extension: wear long pants (poison ivy possible), bring bug spray, water shoes (if crossing), and trekking poles • No formal changing area—bring a towel or cover-up if planning to swim Registration to any Active SWV free programming indicates acceptance of our liability waiver for every adult and child attending. Please do not attend programs if you are not feeling well. https://rpb.li/rNo Regarding Community Captain Programs and groups of children: All Active SWV Community Captain programs are family friendly; children are invited to attend with the expectation of a parent/guardian ratio of 1 guardian adult to 5 children. It is our expectation for larger groups of children (e.g. Scouts, youth groups, etc), that an adult to child ratio of 1 adult to 5 children be observed in ages 5 and under, and 1 adult to 10 children be observed for ages 5 and above.
