Kaymoor Miners Trail Hike

Friday, March 15, 2024 (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Join Community Captains Jack and Jacki for a hike in the New River Gorge!

Community Captains: Jack and Jacki

Location: meet at the trailhead/Wolf Creek via Fayette station road

 Activity Type: Hike

Join Community Captains Jack and Jacki for a hike in the New River Gorge!

All hikes are made possible through Get Active In The Park, a partnership between Active SWV and the National Park Service. Get Active in the Park activities are perfect for grand-families, groups with multiple interests, and individuals. All are welcome! Youth are encouraged to attend but must be accompanied by a guardian and the adult must stay on site during the activity. Get Active in the Park is an innovative partnership between the National Park Service and Active Southern West Virginia. Trained Community Captains deliver free, beginner-level instructional programs to the New River Gorge region. Get Active in the Park empowers our community to see outdoor spaces as a place for health and wellness to take place. • Have you been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19? • Are you experiencing a cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat? • Have you had a fever in the last 48 hours? • Have you had new loss of taste or smell? • Have you had vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours Regarding Community Captain Programs and groups of children: All Active SWV Community Captain programs are family friendly; children are invited to attend with the expectation of a parent/guardian ratio of 1 guardian adult to 5 children. It is our expectation for larger groups of children (e.g. Scouts, youth groups, etc), that an adult to child ratio of 1 adult to 5 children be observed in ages 5 and under, and 1 adult to 10 children be observed for ages 5 and above. *This hike will occur weather permitting! Please be aware if road conditions are bad, there will be no hike due to limited maintenance for Fayette Station Road. Please complete Active SWV FREE membership prior to the program. Wolf Creek Trailhead

Fayetteville, 25840

Meet at the trailhead/Wolf Creek via Fayette station road Turn off U.S. Route 19 onto Lansing-Edmond Road (Route 5), just north of Canyon Rim Visitor Center. Follow signs for County Route 82, turning right onto Fayette Station Road (a very narrow road with hairpin turns), then fork to the left. Follow the one-way Fayette Station Road to the bottom of the gorge. Cross the New River on the Tunney Hunsaker Bridge and continue for 1.2 miles to the small parking area at the trailhead. There are specific "No Parking" areas near the trailhead, please observe and obey the parking signs. NOTE There is VERY LIMITED parking at this trailhead. Please park directly in front of the trailhead or past the trailhead, around the hairpin turn, in the pullouts on the right. DO NOT PARK on the left side of the road on the approach to the trailhead. Parking here is not allowed and prevents larger vehicles from making the hairpin turn and can cause traffic jams.
