Babcock State Park Hike

Location: Babcock State Park Community Captain: Becky When: Monday, May 5th Meet-Up Time/Place: 9:00 AM at The Hub in Lewisburg to carpool/caravan; or contact the hike leader for trailhead meeting details. About This Event: Explore three beautiful waterfalls in one day on this scenic adventure along the WV Waterfall Trail! We’ll be visiting Mann’s Falls, Gristmill Falls, and Flanagan Falls at Babcock State Park. What to Expect: • Mann’s Falls – About a 0.5-mile hike from the campground • Gristmill Falls – Right next to the Visitor Center • Flanagan Falls – A more challenging 8-mile round-trip hike (moderate incline, long distance, mixed surfaces) Note: The Flanagan Falls portion includes a four-mile downhill walk and then a return uphill walk that, while not technically difficult, is long and can be tough on the feet. Alternate Options: If you opt out of the Flanagan Falls hike (especially if carpooling with someone who is going), enjoy a relaxing 1-mile lake trail, visit the swinging bridge, or explore the cabin area and Visitor Center. How to Prepare: • Wear sturdy shoes with thick soles • Pack snacks, food, and plenty of water • Dress for the weather and wear layers • Be prepared for a longer outing if doing Flanagan Falls—this portion may take 3+ hours • Consider bringing hiking poles for added support Transportation Note: We may need additional drivers depending on the number of hikers. Please do not attend programs if you are not feeling well. https://rpb.li/rNo  Regarding Community Captain Programs and groups of children: All Active SWV Community Captain programs are family friendly; children are invited to attend with the expectation of a parent/guardian ratio of 1 guardian adult to 5 children.
