Meadow River Rail Trail Hike Greenbrier County and Beyond Group
Friday, June 12, 2026 (1:00 PM - 3:00 PM)
(EDT)
Description
Celebrate the Grand Opening of Phase III of the Meadow River Rail Trail in Rainelle on Friday, June 12th. Although the ribbon cutting will take place in the morning, we will hike on the trail in the afternoon. Invite your family, friends, and neighbors to check out this addition to outdoor fun in Greenbrier County. Due to limited parking at the trailhead, hikers coming from the east will meet at the roadside park near Charmco (on south side of Hwy 60 BEFORE you reach Rainelle) at 1:00 p.m. to carpool to the trailhead. Hikers coming from the west are encouraged to meet in Rainelle to carpool to the trailhead. There will be a shuttle for the morning ceremony, but there will NOT be one for this hike. We should arrive at the trailhead around 1:15 p.m.
Wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes and bring water. This is a “walk at your own pace” hike.
Hikers from the Lewisburg area are encouraged to carpool from Hollowell Park, but note that the hike leader will NOT be meeting there, but will be at the Charmco roadside park at 1:00 p.m. and the trailhead around 1:15 p.m. Look for a pink hat! The leader is willing to be surprised on this hike, so it is not necessary to let her know if you are coming, although that is always nice. If you want to arrange your own carpools on this FB page, please do! Children must be accompanied by a parent or adult who stays with them.
Registration to any Active SWV free programming indicates acceptance of our liability waiver for every adult and child attending. https://rpb.li/rNo
Please do not attend programs if you are not feeling well. Regarding Community Captain Programs and groups of children: All Active SWV Community Captain programs are family friendly; children are invited to attend with the expectation of a parent/guardian ratio of 1 guardian adult to 5 children. It is our expectation for larger groups of children (e.g. Scouts, youth groups, etc), that an adult to child ratio of 1 adult to 5 children be observed in ages 5 and under, and 1 adult to 10 children be observed for ages 5 and above.
