Regarding Community Captain Programs and groups of children: All Active SWV Community Captain programs are family friendly; children are invited to attend with the expectation of a parent/guardian ratio of 1 guardian adult to 5 children. Black Diamond Equipment and Active Southern West Virginia have partnered to provide essential climbing gear for youth programming, ensuring that young climbers have access to high-quality equipment for safe and enriching experiences. This collaboration supports Active SWV’s mission to promote outdoor recreation and healthy lifestyles by removing barriers to entry for aspiring climbers. With Black Diamond’s trusted gear, youth participants can build confidence, develop skills, and foster a lifelong love for climbing in West Virginia’s world-class outdoor spaces.
FREE MEMBERSHIP: Save time before you arrive to any Active SWV program by completing the Active SWV online membership. Member Plus will give you 24/7 easy access to real-time communications from Active SWV on your mobile device. This includes access to program updates, changes, and immediate notification of cancellations. Member Plus will also store your waiver consent across all activities. No more filling out forms on-site so you can go right into getting active!
PAIN AND FATIGUE TEST: Volunteers are unable to assess participants ability to complete physical activity. If you are unsure, please complete this pain and fatigue test and contact your physician accordingly before participating in an activity.
